Committee for Abington Housing (CAH)

The aims of the group are:

“To fulfil the housing needs and improve amenities for The Abingtons whilst not affecting the overall character of the village. The housing needs as identified in the 2011 Housing Survey and amenities identified in the updated village plan including access to superfast broadband and the provision of a Community Orchard”

The group was set up in 2012 following an initial housing survey of village residents in 2011. The group suggested amendments to the forthcoming local plan to consider three development sites in the Abingtons. The primary focus at present is on these three sites proposed for residential development on High Street/Pampisford Road, Linton Road and Bancroft Farm, Church Lane.

Meetings are open to Abington residents and are reported regularly in the A&H News. Minutes are published - see sidebar.

The county initiative on 'superfast' broadband has achieved satisfactory speeds for most premises in the Abingtons. See also Connecting Cambridgeshire website.

A planning application for the first site is being considered by South Cambs District Council.

A consultation exhibition for the other two sites was held on 22nd June in Great Abington School, using the display boards noted on this page. An orchard is planned on the Linton Road site.
